Glow in The Dark Paint Pigment- Luminescent Pigments

Glow in The Dark Paint Pigment – Luminescent Paint pigments

We have may glow in the dark pigments. The most expensive by far, is the white to white glow.  This one glows white for hours and is the perfect custom paint job for a white vehicle, or white graphics. It tends to glow for several hours. Our other pigment which is more expensive is a white pigment that glows red. Imagine having a white car that glows red all night! That is the stuff! But we also offer a wide variety of of other glows.

Remember that Glows have a color all on their own. We sell some glow in the dark pigments that have a color to them, but don’t plan on being able to spray over some other color and not get it washed out or milky. Glow in the dark pigments are not transparent, and they will cover up your base color.

It is really up to the user what they do with it, but we recommend having the glow on the top coat. Some people talk about covering it up with ghost pearls or white chameleons, but we have yet to see that. If it does get a glow underneath ghost pigments, then we can’t wait to see it. Try some glow in the dark, and see what you think of it.

Each 25 gram bag is a heavy pigment, so it needs to be agitated inside the hopper/gun, and should be sprayed out of a gun with a siphon feed hopper, and not a gravity feed hopper. In a gravity feed hopper or paint gun, the pigment will sink fairly quickly, and may clog up the gun. Some custom painters will actually put marbles into their paint guns to keep things agitated while they spray the heavier pigments in their custom paint jobs. The end results have been amazing, and it is always good to see that.

Short Video on How Simple it is to Mix your Own Custom Paint

DIY Custom Paint video

We are very proud of our line of products, and we decided to give more of an in-depth description of how to mix them into your paints, as many people have expressed a little bit of fear when it comes to dealing with powders in paint. It is truly noting to be afraid of, as every paint company out there does the same thing so that they can charge you more than double the price for custom paint! With our products, you can still use your favorite brands of paint (by buying their binder, blender, or inter-coat clear). You simply need to mix our pearls, candies, metal Flake, or temperature-changing pigments into their products.

The following YouTube video demonstrates exactly how easy mixing your own custom paint really is. Keep in mind: the ratios of powder will vary depending on which one of our products you are using, and how much you want to use. For Candy and Chameleon, use 1 bag per mixed quart. This is a starting ratio and can be altered to your taste.  Black base coats are easier and more forgiving to cover so may use less pigment, whereas a white or silver base may need a bit more pigment to really pop.

The video is a quick and simple way to visually see how easy it is to mix and use our products to make DIY custom paint. Determine your manufacturer’s mixing ratio. For All Kandy Base Clear or other base clears, it is almost always 50/50 with reducer/clear. Add reducer/clear, our product, and mix to one sprayable quart.  Note: When mixing Phantom Pearl, use only 1 teaspoon per mixed quart (a little less over black base coat), and for metal flake, use 1 heaping Tablespoon per mixed quart.

Pearl Leather Paint

Many people are discovering the amazing diversity of our pearls. A new fad that seems to be taking hold is the use of pearls in leather paint on shoes and other leather items, such as jackets and purses. We have done a few experiments with our candies, pearls, and even thermochromic pigments and have found that they can be used in MULTIPLE ways on leather.

Our Pigments can be used in both leather paints and even in clear shoe polishes. One woman painted her shoes with polyurethane from Home Depot mixed into some Wine Red Candy Color Pearls and has been wearing the shoes for months. She claims to have had no issues. Patent Leather Pearl Effects can be achieved with an Epoxy coating mixed with pearls on leather. Pearl Leather Paint is a very hot item right now.

Custom Paint Color Theory – Custom paint jobs – Pearl paint – Candy Paint

Custom Paint Jobs with our products.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]When Custom Paint jobs look their best, is when people understand more about what makes them professional, and what makes a custom paint job look amateur. A good thing to remember is using warm tones with cool tones can often turn out bad. A few years ago, one of the car companies made a light blue car, and put an gold “ghost pearl”, on top of it. This made a difficult color to look at that no one wanted to buy. When you look at warm tones, it makes sense to use them over other warm tones. Take this 55 Chevy fender, for example. It was painted dark orange, and had a nice Gold Phantom Pearl over it. Ghost pearls differ from Candy Pigments, as the actual particles of ghost pearls are transparent, and only reflect color in the sun.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”206″ img_size=”medium”][vc_column_text]We also like all kinds of Reds and Purples shot in different combinations. One combination I saw and loved on a client’s car was a Fire Engine red Camaro that had been custom painted with our violet ghost pearl over the top. Another combination that I have known people to use is the custom painted Purple Candy as a base coat, with the Red Ghost pearl painted over it. Both combinaitons turn out great. With the amount of material that you will need to produce these effects, you can easily do an entire car with less than $100 dollars of our products, and a couple hundred dollars worth of chemical binders, topcoats, and reducers.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”248″ img_size=”medium”][vc_single_image image=”263″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1315″ img_size=”medium”][vc_column_text]We have noticed one instance in which warm colors look good on top of cool colors. The use of green or turquiose always looks good in combination with each other. Yellows and greens look good together in almost every custom paint combination you can think of. We even carry a chameleon that is a yellow to green flip effect, but here is another effect that we like. Using green as your base coat, use gold ghost pearl over the green for an effect like this.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1786″ img_size=”medium”][vc_column_text]For some, the strange and obscure, or (what grabs the eye) is the way to go. Here you can see that we have people that we work with of all types. A color combination that we never would have thought could look good (but actually does). Violet Satin Phantom Pearl on top of a turquoise base coat? I never would have thought about that as cool custom paint. You be the judge.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1273″ img_size=”medium”][vc_column_text]Remember that our ghost pearls can be sprayed on any color to create a custom paint effect. Even if you own a black car, and you want to give it an extra color where the sun hits it or under the street lights as you drive around at night, you can add a bit of ghost pearl to some clear and liven the whole thing up. Granted, you will still have a black car in the shade, but it really pops when ghost pearl gets under the lights.-Matt[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Create Mother of Pearl Tile or Concrete Effects with Sealer

Create Mother of Pearl Tile or Concrete Effects with Sealer

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]As we have discovered through our customers, our ghost pearls , metal Flake and candies work incredibly well as a way to make special effects concrete and tile flooring or countertops. We have also discovered that the main company selling pearl additives for concrete effect sealer is charging $90.00 for a 4 ounce quantity. That is about 4 times the amount we charge (for the same product). We have sold our products to many concrete effects designers and have had incredible success using our ghost pearls and candy pearl pigments in sealer to create very expensive looking concrete flooring, [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1773″ img_size=”medium”][vc_column_text]

Ordinary Slate Tiles from Home Depot – Untreated.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1772″ img_size=”medium”][vc_column_text]

Pictures do these tiles no justice!

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1771″ img_size=”medium”][vc_column_text]We purchased some bargain slate tiles from the Home Depot at 1.49 per square foot. I treated them with various different colors of ghost pearls mixed at a ratio of 1 25 gram bag per quart of concrete and tile sealer. I used the glossy sealer, but the pearls can also be used in a matte sealer. Let’s take a look at the before and after. These pictures were taken in the sun at two different angles, because the colors of the ghost pearls only show up in reflected light. At some angles, the ghost pearls will be invisible. Keep in mind that the camera cannot come close to capturing the shininess of the pearl, but our shimmer ghost pearls are much more reflective than the satin ghost pearls. We used Gold Shimmer Ghost pearl, Blue Satin Phantom Pearl, Red Phantom Pearl, and Green Ghost pearlWe also added the four different colors of ghost pearl to a single tile, and were able to create very simply an effect that resembled an abalone shell in the slate tile. This was achieved with 4 paper towels, dipped into the 4 different colors of pearl that we mixed with the sealer. I randomly swirled small spots of different colors onto different areas of tile. This was my very first attempt, and it came out awesome, with very little effort.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The great thing about this “mother of pearl” look is that it can be done on a large scale after the tiles are laid, but before you put down the grout. Can you imagine what this would look like on concrete countertops? This requires no special tools and can be done by just about anyone. We have seen similar looking tiles sell for over ten dollars per square foot, while we estimate that this effect only adds .10 cents or less per square foot to total cost of the slate tile.* The beauty is, with our bulk discounts, that could mean a much bigger savings for larger flooring areas. At this price, you are adding a degree of luxury that could potentially make a relatively inexpensive floor look incredibly luxurious for a tiny fraction of the cost of expensive tiles. Also keep in mind that our ghost pearls will never fade, so they can be used in exterior applications as well, and will last as long as the sealer they are mixed with. Some of the most common sealers you will find, like these from Home Depot..

Faux Finish Tips- Use in Glaze or in Polyurethane

Faux Finish Tips- Use in Glaze or in Polyurethane

Candy and Phantom Pearl powders are great for creating incredible interior decorating FAUX FINISH effects in your home or business.

Bronze Copper Used in Faux Finish Glaze and Sponged on Wall.

Bronze Copper Used in Faux Finish Glaze and Sponged on Wall.

TIP#1: Faux finish glaze with Phantom Pearl or Candy powdered pearl pigments is super-hot right now. It is achieved by mixing pigment into clear glaze or water-based polyurethane, and applying it to the existing latex paint on the wall with a brush. USING A ROLLER OR A SPRAYER DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF FAUX FINISH, SO use sponges, rags, brushes or any other faux finish technique that you are familiar with.

TIP#2: One bag of our Candy Color Pearls or Phantom Pearl pigment will treat up to a gallon of glaze or clear poly, but it is advisable to mix it about a quart at a time to get your desired consistency.

TIP#3: Pick a base color that your pearled Candy FAUX FINISH will look good over. A flattering base color makes all the difference. For instance, a blue ghost pearl would look nice over a light blue or grey paint. A gold pearl looks nice over reds, greens, oranges, or browns. Experimentation is the key.

TIP#4: Applying a little pearl faux finish over white or black latex paint can create a great custom paint effect! Our flip colors are designed to paint over black, so getting color changing results depends on applying several coats over a black base. Our Carribean Gold chameleon pearl has been used in theater to create backgrounds that resemble realistic water. We have also seen our silver ghost pearls on home theatre walls and screens to boost the light distribution on the surface that makes for a brighter picture quality.

Making your white walls look like pearl is simple by using a white or silver pearl in glaze over your paint. We plan on releasing many more pictures soon displaying the uses of pearls in your home finishes.
