This 25-gram bag of Green Thermochromic Paint powder is a unique pigment for creating custom paint! This is called a thermochromic pigment, and with it, you can now create dazzling effects that shift color when the temperature of the item changes. This Green Thermochromic Paint is used across different applications, from toys to choppers to home interiors. Many are currently experimenting with it to create the ultimate energy-efficient roofing, because it has the potential to change from black to white when the temperature rises. Mix this pigment with any clear base coat (such as a binder or color blender), and spray it over your desired graphics or base coat color. Check out our article, How To Mix Custom Paint. As mentioned in our article about temperature change paint, this product requires ample UV protection in order to create lasting results in outdoor environments. We recommend Wet Wet Plus clear or another highly UV protective clear for outdoor or exterior use. Since the lifespan of this paint is dependent on UV protection, we cannot offer any warranty, since that will depend greatly on how you topcoat it. Tip: Using this Green Thermochromic paint underneath Phantom Pearls® or Colorshift Pearls® will also help increase its tolerance to UV rays, because pearls are made with titanium oxide, which is also the main ingredient in sunscreen. Thermochromics change color dramatically (even from black to white) as the temperature changes. Ours are set to change at 86 degrees F. You can use this Green Thermochromic Paint pigment for everything from custom paint to clothing, or anything else you can think of! Our pigments have been used on everything from masks to motorcycles. Experiment and see what cool custom applications you can come up with! Did you know that magicians often use thermochromic pigments in their magic tricks? Thermochromic paints change as the temperature changes. As the temperature goes up, the pigment becomes colorless, revealing the base coat or graphics that you’ve put underneath. The helmet shown in the video was painted with a white base coat and then a black temperature-sensitive paint over it. In the video below, you can see a BLACK THERMOCHROMIC PAINT over an orange base. The second video shows how body heat can effect thermochromics in a rather amusing way… Be sure to see both videos! Both videos above were sent by our customers, who use our products, check out their Youtube channels for more information! For the best results, mix these pigments with our pearls to get a subtle yet protected paint job. See the yellow to orange mouse shown below. Just mix this pigment into a clear base (like a blender or a binder), and then spray it on. 1 25-gram bag treats 1 sprayable quart of base clear, giving you affordable temperature or solar change paint. NOTE: Thermochromic paints (temperature change) have a LOW UV TOLERANCE without proper protection, so for exterior paint, use a clear coat like Wet Wet Plus clear or Dupont’s hc7776. Because there are so many variables, we cannot offer any warranty on the longevity or performance of this pigment, as this issue is known, and the end result greatly depends on the topcoat used. If you are curious, in the video above one of our customers was able to get it to work in powder coatings.

NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PROLONGED OUTDOOR USE.

We recommend a starting ratio of 1 25-gram bag per quart of sprayable clear paint/binder. Adjust these starting ratios for your specific use. For the best results, mix 1 25-gram bag into a pint of reducer, and then let it sit for 24 hours before mixing it with one pint of clear paint, creating one sprayable quart. It works best when mixed into an oil or solvent based clear. While we haven’t experienced any issues with water-based clears, some of our customers have. Contact us before mixing if you have any questions. Many customers have called asking for a step-by-step guide to painting with this product, so I have created a basic guide for your convenience. Keep in mind that there are many factors involved in any paint job, so adjust these tips to suit your needs: -Apply your desired base coat color (white or brighter colors work best) -Mix the 25-gram bag of thermo into a pint of reducer and then let it sit for 24 hours -Mix a pint of clear to the reducer, creating a sprayable quart -Spray 5-7 coats of thermo over your base coat color -Apply a good UV top coat clear (3-4 coats) over it. (You can also add a ghost pearl to the clear for even more UV protection). Please know that if you apply this to a surface that will experience prolonged UV or high heat exposure, the pigment will start to break down and fade to a hazy gray. Due to the UV and heat factors, we cannot offer any guarantees on the lifespan of this paint. There are too many variables involved which make it hard to guarantee the product’s longevity.
