Unlock Stunning Interior Design Effects with Candy and Pearl Powders – Faux Finish Tips

Our candy and pearl powders are ideal for creating beautiful, custom faux finish effects in your home or business. Check out our top faux finish tips below:

  • Tip #1: Creating a faux finish glaze with our pearl or candy powdered pearl pigments is extremely popular right now. This is achieved by mixing the pigment into clear glaze or water-based polyurethane and then applying it to your existing latex paint on the wall with a brush. Using a roller or a sprayer defeats the purpose of faux finish, so please use sponges, rags, brushes, or other faux finish techniques that you’re familiar with.
  • Tip #2: One bag of our candy or pearl pigment will treat up to a gallon of glaze or clear poly, but for best results, mix it about a quart at a time to get your desired consistency.
  • Tip #3: Choose a base color that complements your pearled Candy faux finish. The right base color can make all the difference. For example, a blue ghost pearl looks great over a light blue or gray paint, and a gold pearl looks fantastic over reds, greens, oranges, or browns. Experimentation is key to achieving the look you desire.
  • Tip #4: Applying a little pearl faux finish over white or black latex paint can create an amazing custom paint effect! Our flip colors are designed to be applied over black, and the color-changing results will depend on applying several coats over a black base. Our Caribbean Gold chameleon pearl has been used in theater to create backgrounds that resemble realistic water.
  • Tip #5: Simply mix a white or silver pearl into glaze over your paint to make your white walls look like pearl. We plan to share many more photos of our pigments in use for home finishes soon.
